John W. Waters, age 69, of Ellenboro, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
John was born July 13, 1949 in Rutherford County and was the son of the late Lewis Monroe Waters and Annie Mae Sisk Waters. He worked for the town of Forest City in the maintenance department for thirty years and was a member of Poors Ford Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, blue grass music and especially loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rachel Ellen Waters; two grandchildren, Austin Ray Swink and William Lee Swink; son-in-law, Kevin Swink; three brothers and three sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty years, Vonnie Waters; three daughters, Shirley Waters (Bill Edwards), Rachel Swink (David Reynolds) and Tammy Lynn Waters (Anthony Fitzgerald) all of Ellenboro; brother, Clyde Waters of South Carolina; two grandsons, John Swink and Anthony Ryan Fitzgerald, Jr.; two granddaughters, Paisley Ann Fitzgerald and Angel Whilhide.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Poors Ford Baptist Church with Reverend Leroy Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in Spindale City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.

So sorry to hear about Johnny' passing. I worked with him for a good many years before he retired. I remember that he loved his family, and they always came first. He worked for the Town of Forest City for many years, and was very good at his job. He was fair, and was always the same to everybody. He will be missed.

I am sorry for your loss i known johnny for years now scence i was in middle school because his daughter tammy waters and i are best friends . john waters was always a kind man and helped any one out that he could. He loved his family but most of all he loved his wife and his grand children and children . ill be praying for his family and keeping them in my prayers
