Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Rose by adding your memories and photos.

Rose Matheny, age 47, of Bostic, NC, died Monday, January 14, 2019 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Rose was born on February 24, 1971 in Cleveland County, and was a daughter to the late Bobby Putnam and Sieglinde L. Putnam. She was a graduate of Crest High School, class of 1989 and worked ten years for Cone Mills-Cliffside. She most recently worked in the shipping department at Parker-Hannifin and had been there for eighteen years. Rose was a faithful member of Grace Chapel Foursquare Church where she served on the Church Council, worked in the nursery and was a greeter. She also prepared food for bereaving families and taught children's classes. Rose enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and yard work. She also loved taking trips to the beach, but her life's priority and love was taking care of Bobby and Trent.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of eighteen years, Bobby K. Matheny; son, Trent Dale Matheny of the home; father, Gerald Whisnant of Shelby; sister, Sandra Putnam of Boiling Springs, NC; father and mother in-law, Bill and Helen Matheny of Forest City; sister-in-law, Sheila Womack (Terry) of Forest City and a nephew, Mason Womack of Mooresville, NC.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Grace Chapel Foursquare Church with Reverend Ricky Poteat officiating. Interment will follow in Sandy Run Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are requested to Grace Chapel Foursquare Church, 121 Mitchell Street, Forest City, NC 28043.

There are no words to describe how I feel losing one of my best friends. Rose and I had known each other for 26 years. We worked together, camped together and enjoyed life together. This world will not be the same without her. The last time I saw her was Saturday before she passed and to see her smile like she did when we talked with her made my heart smile. This is not goodbye, this is I will see you later in a much better place. Rest well. I will miss you more than words can describe. I love you my friend.......

Bobby and Trent our hearts break for you both. Rose was the sweetest and most caring person. One of the best neighbors that you could ever ask to have. As I read some of the tributes it just affirms what a caring person she was and how much she was loved by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with both of you at this time and we ask that God wrap his loving arms around both of you and give you the strength you need as you go through this difficult time. We hope that you find comfort in knowing that she rests in the arms of her Lord. Lean on friends and family during this time, draw strength and comfort from them. Lean on the Lord and he will provide strength and comfort for you. Again our deepest sympathies for your loss.

Bobby and Trent we are heartbroken for you! Rose was a great wife, mother and friend! Our entire church is devestated, she worked tirelessly for church ministry,no one can fill the void she's left.Rose and I would text and I always told her what wonderful parents she and Bobby were raising a remarkable young man in Trent! You are our family so if you need anything we're 1 call away! I pray for God to strengthen you in the coming days and after everyone is gone your church family will be here with much love#
